Releasing a external Blu-ray drive and market it as a Blu-ray movie playback only device just like the HD-DVD drive was only for playing movies. People who own a Xbox 360 and would like to playback Blu-ray movies without purchasing another console could now do so. Releasing the player next month would actually be ideal, coinciding with the release of the Xbox 360 exclusive game from Epic, Gears of War 2. Both products would be extremely competitive against the PlayStation 3 and even Nintendo?s Wii console.

But I wouldn’t be surprised if it debuts in the next Xbox 360 . As for the 1TB HDD, and a Quad-Core CPU, it seems like the perfect recipe for the X 720, don’t you agree? Built into the hardware will be a RAM and ROM drive and games will load from the Card to RAM (OS will be on ROM). Imagine the loading times? But because we’ve gone with an external form of device, we can remain compatible with changes to the situation in the future.”.

But even on the Elite, the HDMI socket can’t output Dolby TrueHD either, in its raw digital form or a decoded PCM form. But I would prefer to have all my media on Hard drive. All of my other Dvd’s and media are archived on my pc to be streamed to my Apple TV, 360 or PS3. But MS not announcing anything for XBox is even more likely. It is too early and risky to invest into Blu-ray while MS is still betting on online video download as a preferred delivery format.
